From February 6 to 11, Paris becomes the global capital of artificial intelligence (AI) during AI Action Week, a global event that brings together the main actors of the AI ecosystem worldwide. For a week, artificial intelligence will set the agenda in France with an intense program that includes scientific sessions, a cultural weekend, the international summit at the Grand Palais, numerous parallel events, and a business ecosystem day.
The Summit focuses on five key themes:
-
Public Interest AI
-
Future of work
-
Innovation and culture
-
Trust in AI
-
Global governance
And seeks to answer three fundamental questions for AI and our societies:
-
How can AI technologies and uses be developed on a large scale in all countries of the world?
-
How can we ensure that the transition to AI is a success without leaving anyone behind and preserving our freedoms?
-
How can we guarantee that the uses of AI align with our humanist values and that this technology can be used in the service of the community and the public interest?

The Institut national de recherche en sciences et technologies du numérique, Inria, has been coordinating the research component of France's National AI Strategy (PRNIA) since 2018 and also coordinates the higher education and training ecosystem in AI in France, playing a leading role in the organization of the Summit. Among a multitude of activities in Paris and across France, Inria will particularly be involved in: the Scientific Days "AI, Science, and Society" co-organized with the Institut Polytechnique de Paris on February 6 and 7, where scientists, and world experts, including Nobel laureates, explore the intersection between artificial intelligence and society. In this event coordinated by Michael Jordan (University of California, Berkeley / Inria), several Inria scientists will present, including Francis Bach, Gaël Varoquaux, Jean-Michel Loubes, Julie Josse, Justine Cassell, Nicholas Ayache, and Pierre-Yves Oudeyer. These Scientific Days mark the beginning of AI Action Week.
