The rapid development of artificial intelligence demands new models of international cooperation that prioritize public interest and inclusive development while ensuring ethical and responsible advancement of AI capabilities. The recently established strategic partnership between Chile's Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation of Chile and InriaINRIA represents an innovative approach to addressing these challenges through bilateral and bioregional cooperation.
This partnership exemplifies how international cooperation can create public goods in AI that enable countries to invest in specific areas of strength while benefiting from a broader ecosystem of innovation.
By focusing on open, diverse and locally relevant AI systems, sustainable computing infrastructure, inclusive data governance frameworks, and ethical standards, the partnership demonstrates how bilateral cooperation can be scaled to benefit the broader international community.
In this official side event of the Paris AI Action Summit, organized by Inria Chile, Inria, and the Ministry of Science of Chile, high-level speakers will discuss how the innovative Chile-France strategic alliance has created a new model of international cooperation as a platform seeking to advance the development of public interest AI. Concrete initiatives, actions, and projects aimed at helping to close technological gaps while ensuring the ethical and responsible development of emerging AI capabilities from this alliance will be addressed.
