Project Summary
The associate team SymBioDiversity works with big data on microbial biodiversity. It is led by Anne Siegel from the DYLISS team at Inria Centre at Rennes University in France, and in Chile by Alejandro Maass, director and researcher at the Centro de Modelamiento Matemático (CMM), Universidad de Chile.
Through the combination of data mining, reasoning, and mathematical modelling, this team aims to develop approaches for the analysis of microbial diversity in extreme environments, as well as to characterize the functional landscape of these ecosystems.
In addition to having the participation of numerous CMM researchers in charge of ecosystem modelling, SymBioDiversity brings together researchers from Inria Chile, who contribute to the line of data mining applied to biodiversity; experts in this same science from the PLEIADE team at Inria Centre at the University of Bordeaux in France, who conduct research in systems biology and biodiversity; and researchers from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, experts in biodiversity.
