The CEO of Inria Chile, Nayat Sánchez-Pi, was part of the podcast "Después de Mañana", of T13 Radio. The space is hosted by Kike Mujica and in this opportunity they talked about the state of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America and the challenges faced by the countries in the region.
Inria Chile was recently part of the Position Paper, presented at the GPAI global meeting in Paris, which seeks to be a roadmap for the development of Artificial Intelligence in Latin America. At the Institute, the state of the art in the region is a constant concern and challenge.
Nayat Sánchez-Pi explained that the situation of Artificial Intelligence in the Southern Cone has several edges:

Latin America is, unfortunately, an undeveloped region, but the fact that it is not developed does not mean that there is no development, only that it is unequal. There is progress and it is a fact that AI exists, there are important applications and a lot of talent, but we are far from exploiting our possibilities in comparison with the main centers of the world.

She added that the infrastructure issue is quite complex and there is a lack of investment from private companies and basal funds from governments:
