Applications for the Associate Teams program, part of Inria Chile's International Laboratory, are open until October 17. These teams are an essential element of Inria's international policy and one of the main tools to support bilateral scientific collaboration and to promote and strengthen joint research and strategic alliances abroad.
An Associate Team is a three-year joint research project between Inria research groups in France and researchers abroad. The participating researchers jointly define a scientific objective, a research plan and a program of bilateral exchanges.
It is in this context, that Inria Chile invites again Chilean scientists and researchers to be part of this initiative from 2023. All Chilean academic partners are eligible for the Inria Chile Associate Teams program.

This program has provided funding to 27 French-Chilean research projects since 2012 and the lines of work are very broad. Currently, there are 10 associated teams working, in which researchers from Inria and 7 Chilean partner universities collaborate: Universidad de Chile, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Universidad Técnico Federico Santa María, Universidad del Bío Bío, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Universidad de Valparaíso and Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
The objective is to structure and strengthen scientific collaborations in digital sciences and technologies between Inria project-teams and those of Chilean universities, promoting greater bilateral collaboration between researchers from France and Chile.
Benefits
- Inria allocates funds of up to EUR 13,000 for the first two years to Teams outside Europe and up to EUR 10,000 in the third year. These amounts are subject to the contingencies of the development of the health crisis and may be revised accordingly.
- The Associate Teams program provides funding for exchanges (travel and short- and medium-term stays) of researchers, engineers, fellows, postdocs, PhD students and trainees between France and the partner country. In addition, workshops and joint work meetings (travel and stay expenses) are contemplated.
The call for Associate Teams will receive proposals until October 17. Between that date and December, the evaluations will be carried out and the results will be published in January 2023.
