Speaker: Ayse N. Arslan, Researcher of the EDGE project-team at Inria
-
Master Class in English, with simultaneous translation into Spanish
What will I discover in this master class?
-
The history of operations research: from expert systems to modern optimization methods.
-
The definition of basic principles and concepts: strategic, tactical and operational problems.
-
We will present the scientific challenges (uncertainty management, robustness of solutions and models).
-
We will discuss the challenges of tomorrow: the impact of the rise of artificial intelligence on the discipline, the need for integrated models and an increasingly uncertain environment.
Ayse Nur Arslan
Ayse N. Arslan is a researcher at the Inria centre at the Université of Bordeaux, in the EDGE project-team since 2022. After studying engineering in Turkey, she obtained her PhD at the University of Florida (USA) in 2016. She then pursued her career in France, in particular as a teaching researcher at INSA-Rennes between 2018 and 2022.
Her research focuses on solving optimization problems under uncertainty. This is a multi-faceted and difficult to deal with class of problems, which has applications in various fields such as energy, health, transportation, etc. In 2022, Ayse was awarded the second runner-up Robert Faure Prize by the French Society of Operational Research (ROADEF) for her research work.
